why is 0.57 a rational number?

OpenStudy (joehoffy):

if you can put it in a fraction, and it is repeating, then it is a rational number.

OpenStudy (jadedry):

In this case, because it has a finite number of "repeating" decimals. An irrational number is one that has infinite, non-repeating decimals, like Pi.
