WHO WANTS A MEDAL???!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Given that the value of b can never be equal to -1, determine if the equations are intersecting, parallel, or coincident. x + y = ab bx - y = a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Intersecting Parallel Coincident

OpenStudy (anonymous):

coincident

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you know?

OpenStudy (bossvideogamer21):

i want a medal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

wait what? no? it shouldn't be coincident

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry it would be parallel

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

x + y = ab --> y = -x + ab bx - y = a --> y = bx - a ^ so if b cannot be = -1 then they cannot be parallel (since they would not have the same slopes) and they have to be at least parallel to be coincident

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

gosh people explain your work o-o

OpenStudy (sleepyhead314):

I stand by what I said it is Not parallel AND it is Not coincident

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou @sleepyhead314
