OpenStudy (kj4uts):

Make a line graph of the data in the table and conjecture on the minimum degree of a polynomial model A. 1 B. 2 C. 3 D. 4

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

@peachpi

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that everything there is to this question?

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

yeah which is why I am confused because the choices are either 1, 2, 3, 4

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm guessing they're asking you for a degree of the polynomial you get when you plot the points. Looks like a parabola to me

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

what does the 1, 2, 3 or 4 mean?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think those are the degrees they want you to choose from.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like if the points made a line the polynomial would be linear and degree would be 1. A parabola like shape could be any even degree, but the smallest would be 2.

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

ok I see let me graph it and I will see what it looks like

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

|dw:1444325920853:dw|

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

that's what I got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's way I got, so what degree would you say that is?

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

So you said a parabola is a even degree so that would leave 2 or 4 but how do you know which one is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because they asked for the minimum degree

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

oh I see so the minimum would be 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah

OpenStudy (kj4uts):

Ok thank you :)
