I just looked at the first question, and I don't get how to do it at all :(

let me review it and i will give you the answer ok @quickstudent

I'll use x as the width and * as multiply to save confusion. A = x^2+12x A = width * length = x * l As both equations are equal to area, we can equal them to each other: x * l = x^2+12x Factorise the right hand side. x is common so we can factorise it taking x out of the bracket giving: x * l = x (x +12) Since we have an x multiplied by something on both sides, we can divide everything by x to give us: l = x+12 x = 10 feet l = x +12 = 10 + 12 = 22 feet A = x^2+12x = (10)^2 + 12(10) = 100 + 120 = 220 feet^2 or A = w * l = 10 * 22 = 220 feet^2 Hope this helps! :D @quickstudent

Hmmm, well I still don't understand how you used the guess and check method here.
