You are handed a 10.0 cm stack of new ten-dollar bills. Assume the thickness of a bill is 1.4 times thicker than your textbook paper (textbook paper = 63 um). Calculate the value of your stack in dollars .
so we know that the $10 bills are 1.4 times thicker than textbook paper and we just so happen to have the thickness of textbook paper given to us at 63 um which is 63 micrometers or 0.0063 cm. now since the bills are 1.4 times thicker that means in order to find the thickness of the $10 bills we just multiply 0.0063 by 1.4 and find the thickness of one $10 bill. knowing the thickness of one $10 bill we can find how many of these $10 bills are in a 10 cm tall stack by taking 10 and dividing it by our answer of how thick one $10 bill is. once you find that number we can find the falue of the stack because we know how many $10 bills are in the 10 cm stack and we just multiply that number by 10 (the value of the bills in that stack) and we get the total amount in that stack.
