MEDAL AND FAN PLEASE HELP! Write the equation in function notation. Explain what the graph of the function represents. Be sure to use complete sentences.

@Nnesha

OpenStudy (hunus):

What equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It says to write one. @Hunus

OpenStudy (hunus):

Well, if you have any function with y and x and you isolate y on one side: For example, \[y = 2x + 7\] The function notation will be \[f(x) = 2x + 7\] Just replacing that y with f(x) - f(x) just shows that whatever this function is for depends on x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay

OpenStudy (hunus):

The graph would represent the function - which could depict any situation. Did it have any graph associated with the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let me check

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No there was not.

OpenStudy (hunus):

So for f(x) = 2x + 7, the function could represent anything - the cost of coffee, the weight of a balloon as it fills with liquid, the height of a helicopter, etc. The function represents a situation in which one variable - y in this case - changes as x changed, and is thus a function dependent on x. This particular function is one which, when x is zero, starts off at seven. Every time you increase x by one, y increases by two.

Thank you.
