Use a calculator to find an approximate solution to the equation. Round any intermediate work and steps to three decimal places. 2ln(x+2.8)=3.2

well this is a guess and check method... so let x = 10 substitute it and then calculate the value... that's how it appears you are being asked to get a solution. If the value of 10 doesn't work, then put a larger or smaller value in. and then keep adjusting till you get an answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2ln(2.2+2.8)=3.218875825 is that what im looking for

OpenStudy (anonymous):

???

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

seems to make sense to me... but you need to refine the value of x as they ask for 3 decimal places... at the moment you have 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2ln(2.232+2.8)=3.231635039

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?????

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well I think you are still a little high... look at x = 2.153 and then see what you get

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3.199986907

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

so that's very close to 3.2 so that would be my answer

ok thank you
