Zero and negative exponents question...

OpenStudy (tatumlee):

What is the simplified form of \[3a ^{4}b ^{-2}c ^{3}\]

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

just need to remember this rule : \[a^{-n} = \dfrac{1}{a^n}\]

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

\[3a ^{4}b ^{-2}c ^{3} = \dfrac{3a ^{4}c^{3}}{b^2}\]

OpenStudy (tatumlee):

I'm confused on how you got from \[a ^{-n}=\frac{ 1 }{ a ^{n}}\] to that

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

you're not alone, you're expected to be confused a bit when you encounter it for the first time watch this short video to get some intuition on that rule https://www.khanacademy.org/math/pre-algebra/exponents-radicals/negative-exponents-tutorial/v/negative-exponent-intuition

OpenStudy (tatumlee):

Thank you very much! All of these videos are exactly what I've been trying to find. @ganeshie8
