Math Question: Solve −np − 80 < 60 for n.

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

anyone? :( need help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where are you stuck?

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@peachpi just the whole problem I don't understand.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're trying to get n by itself. Think reverse PEMDAS. The first thing you have to do is move the 80 to the other side. the 80 is subtracted, so to move it you need to ADD 80 to both sides of the inequality

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

Oh! Okay I understand the reverse part, but I never really understood where you have to add the number to both sides of the inequality.

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@peachpi sorry forgot to tag you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you add, the 80 on the left will cancel. On the right, what's 60 + 80

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@peachpi 140

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right. show me what your inequality looks like now. I just want to make sure we're on the same page

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@peachpi wait im still confused

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we added 80 to both sides|dw:1444403350937:dw|
