@jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

I got.. 3x^2 -12x+11 Correct? Or did I miscalculate some where?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oops you forgot to post the question

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Sorry -10x not -12x ...

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

26. Evaluate the function at the given value of the independent variable and simplify. f(x) = 3x2 - 4x + 4; f(x - 1)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

oh right, the prev one

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Yes lol.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm not getting 3x^2 - 10x + 11

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Hmmm..

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Are you sure its wrong?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes I'm sure

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

I checked my calculations and it seems to be correct.. Its listed as an option. And mathway says its right..

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

what is (x-1)^2 equal to?

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

3(x-1)^2 -4(x-1)+4 3(x^2 -2x+1) -4x+8 3x^2 -6x+3-4x+8 3x^2 -10x +11

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

(x-1)^2 is x^2 -2x+1

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

hmm I typed it into my calc wrong, my bad

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

3x^2 - 10x + 11 is correct

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Lol its okay.

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

For this next one I got to the last step but Its not shown as an option... Find and simplify the difference quotient f(x+h)-f(x) over h , h=/ 0. f(x)= 3x^2 I got 6x+3h

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

same here

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

The only option that is close is 3(2x+h) so I guess thats it?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that works

OpenStudy (destinyyyy):

Okay.
