Find the area of the region bounded by the graphs of y = x, y = −x + 4, and y = 0.

How would I solve this?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you could use geometry and the area of a triangle formula or you can use integrals to subtract the two areas under the curves

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used geometry and got 6. Which isn't a choice, any ideas?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you should find the base to be 4, height to be 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For some reason I put height down as 3. So the answer is 4?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep the area in the bounded region is 4
