why was the hijrah important to Muslims??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The emigration to Madinah was a very important step in the development of Islam. after Hijra, the proper Islamic state was developed and so the quranic commandments addressing communal affairs were revealed. Muhammad was able to concentrate solely on delivering the true message of Islam once he was away from the violence of Makkah. Hijra also saved the early muslism from the tyranny of makkans otherwise, the new religion would have perished in the dust of Makkah. http://www.angelfire.com/on/ummiby1/muh2.html
