what are the products of the following chemicial reaction C2 + NO =?

OpenStudy (jebonna):

This question is annoying because its so simple yet confusing xD I'm not really sure but could it possibly be CO2 + N? Have you got any ideas at all? Maybe someone else could confirm the right answer.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Did you mean \(\sf 2C~(s) ~+~ NO ~(g)~\rightarrow~\) ? \(\sf C_2\) Doesn't make sense because carbon is not a diatomic.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

\[\sf C~(s) ~ +~ NO~(g)~\rightarrow ~ CO~(g)~+~N_2~(g)\] balancing out this equation You would get \[\sf \color{red}{2}C~(s) ~+~\color{red}{2}NO~(g)~\rightarrow~\color{red}{2}CO~(g)~+~N_2~(g)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol sorry i hadnt noticed my typo, i meant to say CS + NO + ?

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Ahhh

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

\(\sf CS\) or \(\sf Cs\)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CS

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Yeah I have no idea then, haha
