How does dehydrogenation relate to oxidation?

Yeah and dehydrogenation is the removal of hydrogen. So it's similar in terms of removing an ion?

i'm not sure i follow "removing an ion"

Oh what I meant was that since dehydrogenation is removing H, they will lose an electron since hydrogen has one electron. And then oxidation is losing an electron so that ion would become a cation. That's what I was thinking.
