MEDAL!!! The ratio of apples to bananas at a fruit stand is 5 to 4. The ratio of cherries to bananas is 2 to 5. What is the ratio of apples to cherries? A. 5:5 B. 5:2 C. 4:5 D. 25:8 E. 2:1

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

Are you sure D is 24: 8 and not 25:8

OpenStudy (dan815):

5 : 4 , 5:2 app:ban, ban:cherries

OpenStudy (dan815):

app:ban, ban:cherries 25:20, 20:8 app :cherries 25:8

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

why did you multiply 5:4, with 5 and 5:2 with 4?

OpenStudy (calculusxy):

@dan815

OpenStudy (dan815):

to get same number of bananas in both ratios

OpenStudy (dan815):

the 2nd ratio is telling how many cherries i get fot 5 bananas not for 4 baanas another way is to just do 5:2 = 5*4/5 : 2*4/5 = 4:8/5 5:4 , 4:8/5 5 apples : 8/5 cherries multiply by 5 so it makes sense

OpenStudy (dan815):

25:8

OpenStudy (dan815):

in your mind you're just saying this 5 apples for 4 banans, and for 4 bannas u have 8/5 cherries
