There's actually a pattern that you can look for to see whether or not a number is divisible by 3. Add up all the numbers together, and if it's a multiple of 3, then it will be divisible by 3. If you look at the table provided by Nnesha, you can see that for 12 (add 1 and 2 together and that gives you 3, which is divisible by 3). Another example using 27 (add 2 and 7 together and that gives you 9, which is divisible by 3). Last example using 189 (add 1and 8 and 9 together and that gives you 18 which is divisible by 3).
