Please help! For the function f(x) = x + 4, what is the ordered pair for the point on the graph when x = 3p? (x, x + 4) (x, 3p + 4) (3p, x + 4) (3p, 3p + 4)

Nnesha (nnesha):

substitute x for 3p to find y coordinate

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha is it C or D? im stuck between those two

Nnesha (nnesha):

why do you think its D or C ?? :=) what would you get when u replace x with 3p into f(x) function

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha idk thats just the answer I think it is

Nnesha (nnesha):

ok to find y-coordinate replace x with 3p \[f(x)=\color{reD}{x}+4\] x=3p so we can sub x for 3p

Nnesha (nnesha):

let me know what you get when u sub x for 3p :=)

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha im not sure

Nnesha (nnesha):

its okay how would you replace x with 3p ?? :=)

Nnesha (nnesha):

here is an example if x =9u i willl sub x for 9 u in this equation \[\rm f(x)=\color{Red}{x}+5 ----> \color{red}{9u}+5\]

Nnesha (nnesha):

so in that example my y equal to 9u+5 now same way sub x for 3p here is an example if x =9u i willl sub x for 9 u in this equation \[\rm f(x)=\color{Red}{x}+4\] x=3p

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha oh lol.. I think I understand. I've done so much math today already. So its not like C or D? i was thinking it was one of those the whole time

Nnesha (nnesha):

which one is it ?? :=))

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha C?

Nnesha (nnesha):

first answer my question look at the example same way sub x for 3p in this equaiton \[\rm f(x)=\color{Red}{x}+4\] x=3p

Nnesha (nnesha):

when you replace x with 3p what would you get or how would you write it ?

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha B

Nnesha (nnesha):

that's not answer of my question :=)) please don't guess it's not that hard :=))

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha you're really confusing me here

Nnesha (nnesha):

'm not your focus is on the answer please look at the example i gave you tell me how would you write the equation when u replace `x` for `3p`

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

f(x)=3p+4 @Nnesha

Nnesha (nnesha):

right f(x) is same as y so you can write y = 3p +4 that's ur y-coordinate so answer would be ?

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha either B or D.. i dont understand what you did with Y

Nnesha (nnesha):

f(x) is same as y f(x)=y both are same thing so y = 3p +4 and given x = 3p so order pair (x,y) would be what ?

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha hm i dont know

Nnesha (nnesha):

well when x = 3p y = 3p +4 right that's what u got so just write in order pair (x,y) sub x for x value and y for y value in this order pair

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha so what would the answer be? (:

Nnesha (nnesha):

that's what 'm asking tell me what is the answer is just right at front of your eyes and i'm on ur post no need to tag me sorry it is creating lag ....

Nnesha (nnesha):

when x = 3p y = 3p+4 how would you write it in order pair ?

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha ive never really understood order pair and graphs that probably why im not getting this

Nnesha (nnesha):

if x = 4 and y = 7 this is how i would write it in order pair ( 4, 7) first number represent x-coordinate and 2nd one y-coordinate that's it so if `x=3p` and `y=3p+4` how would you write it as order pair ?

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

(3p, 3p+4) ????

Nnesha (nnesha):

right!!!

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha oh haven't done that since middle school..

Nnesha (nnesha):

time to practice on this stuff!!

Nnesha (nnesha):

:=))

OpenStudy (celinegirl):

@Nnesha thank you for your help (:
