it is used to describe a system of government

OpenStudy (ashsmashum1290):

ok but what caused it??

OpenStudy (ashsmashum1290):

whoops spelled it wrong feudal system

OpenStudy (isry98):

A feudal system is a structure in which wealthy land owners referred to as War Lords provided protection in exchange for peasants working the land (aka farming) that they owned. The farming done was called subsistence farming which means only farming enough for survival.

OpenStudy (isry98):

In Japan these warlords were referred to as Daimyo

OpenStudy (isry98):

What caused the feudal system was a need for local government for local threats this was a time where armies were quite small so the threat was local to the people working the land therefore they need local protection which came in the form of landlords

OpenStudy (isry98):

Does that help?

OpenStudy (ashsmashum1290):

yes thank you
