(medal and fan question)What is osmosis? What type of transport is it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Osmosis is a type of diffusion in which molecules pass through a semipermeable membrane. It's a passive transport because it does not require any work or activity to accomplish the process. An example would be when you take a bath, or swim in the pool, and your fingers and toes "shrivel" up. Your body is actually absorbing the molecules from the water.
