help! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

part a is 0 0.087 part b is 1 0.913

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please show all your work onhow you got those answers :) @09chunga

OpenStudy (jhulian):

Okay so....the probability of hitting the black spot is (Area of black spot/Total Area) Which is 2.25pi/81 =0.087 hence closer to 0 The Probability of hitting white part is (Total Area-Black Spot)/(Total Area) Which is (81-2.25pi)/81 = 0.913 hence closer to 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

isnt pi 3.14?

OpenStudy (jhulian):

yes but it is advisable to use the main pi button on your calculator....just so you dont miss the full answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so do i put 2.25 or 3.14? will it be the same answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no the full pie button on your calculator? which is like.. 3.141592654 at least

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok can you show your work for part A and B please :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did the same as Jhulian so part a: (πx1.5^2)/(9x9)= 0.087 part b: (9x9)-(πx1.5^2) all divide (9x9) = 0.913

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok for pi did you use 2.25 or 3.14?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i used the π button on my calculator and if you dont have that button on your calculator, then use 3.151492654

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry.. 3.141592654

OpenStudy (jhulian):

2.25 is the radius of the circle @geny55 the area of a circle is pi*radius(squared)
