Mathematics 19 Online
OpenStudy (ghostedly):

Hey... I was wondering how to write a quotient as one power? Also, can you help me out with this problem as an example? 17^19 / 17^2. Divide

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well you divide the same base, you can subtract the powers e.g. \[\frac{x^a}{x^b} = x^{a - b}\] this is the index law you need for this question.

OpenStudy (ghostedly):

Hmmmm, I see. So 17/17?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

correct \[17=7^{17}\]

OpenStudy (ghostedly):

I see, thanks so much!
