Read this sentence from Paragraph 3 from “Night Watch”: ''As I sloshed across the deck to the bridge, the captain turned the ship hard to port and headed toward shore in a desperate attempt to save the ship from running aground'' . Why does the author use the word sloshed rather than walked or stepped in this sentence? How does the word sloshed contribute to the image the author is creating?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

He used sloshed because the deck was wet. He was trying to put a clearer image of the soaking ship in the reader's mind.
