Speech stress analysis..  sounds pretty difficult, and also really cool.

As far as I know, you'd need to learn to harness the techniques or scripts of some form of neural networks; neural networks have been used for speech recognition, image recognition, video tracking etc.

Good luck if you do. If you're using java or c++, Jeff Heaton might be a good start.

i think you need to test the existing program first to get an environment and change the algorithm that suit you.
