OpenStudy (hyroko):

I need help understanding why I keep getting the wrong equation for the equation of a tangent line. Question is find the equation of the tangent line of F(x) = 4x-3x^2 at the point (2,-4) I keep getting -6x+4 but the book says it is -8x+12..

OpenStudy (amistre64):

4-6x is the derivative, which tells you the slope of the tangent line at any given point the slope of your tangent line is: 4-6(2)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

using point slope format, we can construct the line as: y-f(a) = f'(a)(x-a)
