79 is 21% of what number? Im doing homework and im wondering.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

set it up like this \[(29/x)*(21/100)\] then cross multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

help me please @TheSmartOne

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

^ you can't cross multiply that...

pooja195 (pooja195):

hmm or perhaps this might be easier 79=0.21 x ?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Ok m8

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

So in mathematics, when they use 'is' that means the equal sign

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

'of' in mathematics means multiplication :)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

% means over 100

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

and if we give your number the variable 'x' we can make 79 is 21% of what number to \(\sf 79 = \frac{21}{100} \times x\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can someone help me on my question please? i have waited for like 40mins and no one has helped me

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
