The calorie in food come from the burning of carbohydrates, fats, ad proteins. Carbohydrates provide 4 Cal/g. A glass of milk, which has 150 Cal, has 8g of fat and 11g of carbohydrate. Calculate the number of Calories that come from fats and from carbohydrates. What percentage of total Calories in milk come from fats? From carbohydrates?
If a glass of milk has 11 g of carbs and carbs provide 4 Cal/g 11 g carbs/glass x 4 Cal/g = 44 Cal/glass If the total Cal of a glass of milk is 150 Cal and 44 Cal is provided by the carbs we assume that the rest is provided by the 8 g of fat. (However the problem forgot to mention that the milk has also proteins that provide Cal). 150 Cal - 44 Cal = 106 Cal % Cal from carbs 44 Cal x 100 /150 = ???? % Cal from fats 106 Cal x 100/150 =?????
Thanks so much!!
