Pre-calculus question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What you did for this? Try once...

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

I got B. Is that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.. How you did, just show that..

Parth (parthkohli):

Very easy to check the options. You can do that on your own.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When it says that y directly varies as x, then: \(y = kx\), find \(k\) from first given conditions..

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Ohh so it's C?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Vera, what happened? You are telling only the answers...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it is not B, then it would be C, if not, then it would be D, if not A, it can by anything...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Looks like you are just guessing..

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Ok can you explain how to find the answer please? I'm a bit confused...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

See, \(y = kx\), as I daid, You are giving y = 5 and x = 8 in first condition, just put that here, you will get answer by this only: \(5 = 8k\) implies \(k = 5/8\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Put this value again in that equation: \[y = \frac{5}{8}x\] Which option???

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

That would be A...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it is.. :)

OpenStudy (vera_ewing):

Ok thanks!
