I am so sorry, i didn't realize you tagged me in something. It didn't even give me the notification that you did. Fossils and Dinosaurs focuses on what we have learned and can learn from fossils. In the first part of the lesson. They will then do the same for a Stegosaurus. This comparison is subtle, but demonstrates what we know as fact and what we know as theory, and more importantly, what sort of proof scientists need for fact to exist.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To be more specific. 1. We can realize what sorts of creatures inhabited what times and where they lived. 2. We can find out about when certain gatherings of creatures developed and what their predecessors were similar to. 3. We can figure out how the landmasses floated by looking at where fossil species have been found (for instance, a species that was found in Africa and South America yet couldn't cross a sea would let us know that Africa and South America used to be joined. 4. We can find out about creatures that no more exist, including what they ate and resembled, how enormous they were, and different attributes.

OpenStudy (deadly_roses):

fossils can help us in many ways 1) by showing us about past cultures, fossils can be almost anything including sculptures, pots, bones, ext. by studying these fossils we can learn more about the past cultures... 2) extinct plants and animals can also be found, so fossils help u find thinks we didnt know existed, and also can help us understand what things were like back then. animals can be studied and recorded due to finding fossils. 4) timing and dates, we can look at fossils to determine how old something is, or how old the earth is, they play a big role in our knowledge of the earths age... so past cultures, learning about extinction, and time are 3 ways they help....hope this helps :)
