OpenStudy (freemap):

OpenStudy (michaelac959):

i know how to do this gimme 1 sec if you want me to explain pls say so

OpenStudy (freemap):

ok, and yes please

OpenStudy (michaelac959):

ok so we have 3x-1=9x+2 you combine like terms and get -1=12x+2 then subtract 2 from both sides giving you 1=24x x=24

OpenStudy (michaelac959):

is 24 and answer

OpenStudy (michaelac959):

if this was helpful pls medal

OpenStudy (michaelac959):

and fan

OpenStudy (freemap):

Thank yo so much

OpenStudy (michaelac959):

freemap

OpenStudy (photon336):

3x-1 = 9x+2 +1 +1 3x = 9x+3 -9x -9x -6x = 3 -6 -6 x = -1/2 3(-1/2)-1 -1.5-1 = -2.5 9(-1/2)+2 -4.5+2 = -2.5

OpenStudy (michaelac959):

wow im terrible at this

OpenStudy (michaelac959):

just looked at my notes see where i went wrong my bad

OpenStudy (photon336):

@michaelac959 you can plug your answer back into the original equation to see it checks out. if both the left and right sides equal each other then you know you got it right.

OpenStudy (freemap):

so -2.5 is the answer?

OpenStudy (photon336):

@freemap x = -(1/2) so that's the answer

OpenStudy (freemap):

oh, okay thanks so much

OpenStudy (photon336):

when I plugged x = -1/2 back into the equation that was to show you that I was the correct answer because both sides equaled -2.5

OpenStudy (photon336):

@freemap once you find x you can always plug it back in to see if both sides are equal.

OpenStudy (freemap):

I fanned you

OpenStudy (freemap):

thanks again

OpenStudy (photon336):

thank you!
