Halp meh! Determine the point P that partitions the directed line segment /AB into a ratio of 2:3, when A (-3, −5) and B (7, 0).

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Are you able to plot the two points A and B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yea

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

are you able to determine the horizontal distance from A to B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

something like this lol, this segment is partitioned into the ratio 3 : 2 at point D. i'm pretty sure anyway ^^

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Yes. You will break up the horizontal and vertical components into 5 equal pieces as shown in the attachment I'm posting. Then you'll mark along the segment the corresponding pieces until you've broken up AB into 2 pieces where the ratio of the two pieces is 2:3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol didn't I just work out a similar problem with you?
