OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the least common denominator for the fractions and ? A. 8 B. 12 C. 18 D. 24

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Fractions are 1/6 and 3/4

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

6=2•3 4=2•2 maybe that is a helpful hint, because I have no clue how to expalin this.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

to find the least common denominator (LCD), you need to find the least common multiple (LCM) of the denominators so you need to find the LCM of 6 and 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

To find the LCM of 6 and 4, list out the multiples of 6 and the multiples of 4. Circle the numbers in both lists and the smallest circled is the LCM

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yes, 12 is right

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep the LCM is 12, so the LCD is 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, thank you haha.
