Introduction—State your position statement (thesis) and give an overview of how you will prove your point. You will explain one of the themes of the novel. Some suggestions to help you-- friendship, racism, or the Mississippi River as a symbol. 3. The artifacts—5–6 non‐print artifacts (images or audio or video clips) accompanied by one paragraph each explaining how the artifact supports the thesis. Put two artifacts on one slide. 4. Conclusion—Restate your thesis and wrap up your presentation. 5. A properly formatted reference list including references for all non‐print artifacts as well as any other sources you consulted in composing your presentation. ***Use www.easybib.com and the MLA style guide to assist you in citing your sources. You may compose this presentation in any software that allows you to combine print with non‐print elements. PowerPoint would be a great choice for this project, but word‐processing software like Microsoft Word can work well, too. The Grolier Encyclopedia link on your Connexus home page is a good place to start your research. Another good website to use is “Mark Twain in His Times”. Remember to cite it and any other sources properly. Wikipedia is NOT an appropriate source for this project. Any citations from Wikipedia will not receive credit in the assignment. Grading rubric—Final project 4 pts. Title page 4 pts. Introduction paragraph 4 pts. 5-6 artifacts 4 pts. Quotes from novel for each artifact and explanation 4 pts. Conclusion paragraph 4 pts. Works Cited Page—citations properly formatted. NO citations from Wikipedia.
