Calculus III Limit question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the limit does not exist.

OpenStudy (zale101):

\[\lim_{(x,y) \rightarrow (0,1)}\arctan[\frac{x^2+1}{x^2+(y-1)^2}]\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you try L'Hopitals rule?

OpenStudy (zale101):

pi/2

OpenStudy (zale101):

Nope, i am not sure how to use it when there is arctan

OpenStudy (zale101):

But i was thinking if you sub in (0,1) you will get an undefined angle and that wold be pi/2 radians. I am not sure if this was the correct way to view it.

OpenStudy (zale101):

Nvm, i think i just answered my own question lol

OpenStudy (zarkon):

if "But i was thinking if you sub in (0,1) you will get an undefined angle and that wold be pi/2 radians. I am not sure if this was the correct way to view it." is your answer then you might want to continue to think about it.
