5x+1=3x-7
What's your approach so far?
I took away 3x from 5 x, then subtracted 1 from both sides to get 2x = 7
See what i've written below 1+5x = 3x-7 +7 +7 add 7 to both sides then subtract -5x from both sides 8+5x = 3x - 5x -5x you get the following and then divide both sides by -2 8 = -2x x = -4 5(-4)+1 = 3(-4) = -12-7 = -19 -20+1 -19 = -19 so x = -4
=6 **
@raphaelll you can check your answer by plugging it into the original equation
and whatever answer you get should be the same on both sides.
Algebra 1, so fun...
@raphaelll Does anything seem confusing?
@raphaelll solve this for me based on what we did 3x+1 = 2x+6
3x - 2x 1x+1 = 6 x = 5
@raphaelll nice work, can you plug that answer back into the original equation for me to check 3x+1 = 2x+6?
you then will see the point of this
15+1 = 10+6
@raphaelll that's the methodology you need to follow when doing these problems
Thanks for that, i've got another question i'm not too sure about if you don't mind. Q = 5000 - 10P Given that Q is the quantity demanded and P is the price, rearrange the following equation to make P the subject
is it just dividing 5000 by 10 to work out what P is
Q = 5000 -10P Q+10P = 5000-Q -Q 10P = 5000-Q 10 10 P = 500-Q/10
i hate negatives so I added P to both sides first
Subtracted Q and then divided by 10. but your idea is correct.
@raphaelll
I knew one of the steps, just not the rest of the equation haha, thanks for that
No problem
try this y = 1000+2C solve for C
y=1000+2c Y-2c=1000-y 2c=1000-y c=500-y/2
