@Austin1617

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You there? @narissa

OpenStudy (narissa):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So this equation you will be moving all the terms containing x to the left hand of the equation since there are two x's. Since 12x contains x or variable you will be moving to the left-hand side of the equation by subtracting both sides with 12x. Then the equation will look like this. 10x+4-12x=-16 Then you move -12x left by 10x 10x-12x+4=-16 Subtract 12x from 10x to get -2x+4=-16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Understand it so far? @narissa

OpenStudy (narissa):

yes

OpenStudy (narissa):

its -16 right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then next you will be moving all the terms that don't contain x to the right-hand side of the equation. Since 4 doesn't contain the variable to solve for, move it to the right-hand side of the equation by subtracting 4 from both sides -2x=-6-14 -2x=-20 Or You subtract -4 from -2x + 4=-16 -2x=-16-4 Still with equal -2x=-20 Then you will divide -2x by -2 and -20 by -2. Then -2x will turn into X ( not negative since divided by -2). x=10

OpenStudy (narissa):

thank u

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then plug it into the equation then they will both equal 104=104 10(10)=4= 12(10)-16 100+4=120-16 104=104

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So then 10 is still the right answer for that equation. :D

OpenStudy (narissa):

k so 10 is the answer right?

OpenStudy (narissa):

k i opened a new one

OpenStudy (narissa):

thanks alot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. I just put 10 into that equation to explain it to you and show you proof of it.

OpenStudy (narissa):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Understand it?

OpenStudy (narissa):

i have 5 more can u help

OpenStudy (narissa):

yes i do sorta im in a special class for math so its a little hard

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can I help or May I help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay next question.
