OpenStudy (sbuck98):

Can someone help me solve two functions? I will award a medal, and coins.

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

1.) What is the value of f(4) for the function f(x)=3x-5

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

2.) What is the value of f[g(4)] for the functions f(x)=2x+1 and g(x)=2x-5

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

Question #1 you have to replace \(x=4\) into your function, so, what is: \(f(4)=3 \cdot 4 -5=...?\)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

question #2 here we can write: \(f(g(x))=2 g(x)+1=2 (2x-5)+1=...?\) please complete

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

I don't know how. @Michele_Laino

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

hint: question #1 we have: \(f(4)=12-5=...\)

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

question #2 I apply the distributive property of multiplication over addition, so i get: \(f(g(x))=4x-10+1=4x-9\) then I can write: \(f(g(4))= 4 \cdot 4-9=16-9=..\) please complete @sbuck98

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

7? @Michele_Laino

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

correct!

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

furthermore also \(f(4)=12-5=7\)

OpenStudy (sbuck98):

can you help me get the other answer?
