As a crate slides down an inclined rough surface, its total mechanical energy A) increases, B) might decrease or increase depending on size of slope angle, C) decreases, D) might increase or decrease depending on the friction coefficient is, or E) remains constant. I chose A, since the velocity would be increasing as it slides down, and the potential energy ought to increase as it continues to move in opposition of the only force doing work, i.e., friction. However, it says that I am wrong? Can someone explain to me why?
