Suppose a parabola has an axis of symmetry at x = -5, a maximum height of 9 and also passes through the point (-7, 1). Write the equation of the parabola in vertex form. y=-4(x-5)^2+9 y=-7(x+9)^2-5 y=-0.06(x-5)^2+9 y=-2(x+5)^2+9

HI!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hello!

OpenStudy (misty1212):

if the axis of symmetry is \(x=-5\) then you know it is going to look like \[y=a(x+5)^2+k\] you can forget about all the other stuff cause you only have one choice now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

erm, sorry Im still having trouble =L
