The slope of the line that is perpendicular to 3x+y=8 is A. one third B. -one third C. three eighth D. -3 E.3

OpenStudy (infiniite):

First put the equation into slope intercept form: y = mx+b Then, to find the perpendicular slope, take the m value and find the negative inverse. Ex. Say the slope is \[\frac{ 5 }{ 2 }\] the negative inverse would be \[\frac{ -2 }{ 5 }\] and that would be your perpendicular slope.
