OpenStudy (shortystudys):

Energy in an ecosystem _____. a. is recycled b. is reused c. flows only one way d. is returned to the soil through decomposition

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well... Everything but C. For example, energy from the sun is used by plants to create sugars which are then consumed by animals who then die, decompose, and leave nutrients in the soil.

OpenStudy (shortystudys):

I can only choose one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It is just a poorly written question. I would say that the best answer is recycled. I have picked this answer, because the nutrients may undergo various changes throughout their life-cycle. Whereas, reuse suggests that the energy stays in the same form throughout the entire process.
