OpenStudy (richgall____):

This Mckenzie's Work a^2 + b^2 = c^2 a^2 + b^2 = c^2 52 + 132 = c^2 52 + b^2 = 132 25 + 169 = c^2 25 + b^2 = 169 194 = c^2 square root of 194=square root of C^2

OpenStudy (richgall____):

and she got 13.93=c

OpenStudy (richgall____):

ANd the right side is Cara's work and she got the square root of b^2=square root of 144 and then she says b=12

OpenStudy (richgall____):

Is either of them correct? @AaronAndyson @Ashleyrh1999 @amistre64 @satellite73 @winding0204 @YelhsaZ @pooja195 @mathstudent55 @MariahDimond sorry for the random names but i really need help with this last question:/

OpenStudy (amistre64):

how do you work your pythag thrm?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what do the a,b, and c parts represent on a right triangle ... by convention

OpenStudy (richgall____):

im just now learning this because I had to start taking online school so i really dont know much about it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

it should be in your course material, i cant memorize it for you .... what are your ideas about it, and i can correct you if need be.

OpenStudy (richgall____):

A is the 5 inch side B is the base And C is the side with no number

OpenStudy (amistre64):

your idea is correct, which one has used the appropriate values in the appropriate placements? they both use; a^2 + b^2 = c^2 so the only flaw is in what they used where.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we can see that b=13, so coming to the conclusion that b=12 is not really going to work out is it?

OpenStudy (richgall____):

nahh so i kno Cara's work is incorrect

OpenStudy (amistre64):

:) good.

OpenStudy (richgall____):

and fro what im lookin at mckenzies work is correct

OpenStudy (amistre64):

as long as mickey squared, added, and sqrted correctly, that one should be fine. i agree, mickey did fine

OpenStudy (richgall____):

thanks.
