First, I need to know what restrictions your teacher placed on your essay. Are you using MLA format, or is it just an essay with so many words?

Unless your teacher has strictly said not to, you could at least try this... If you're using Microsoft Word, I normally insert a header that reads [last name, page number] on the far right side. ex, "hassan 1"
You can just tab it over. Don't capitalize your last name, and use plain text. If you insert a page number from the header editor bar, it will change the page number automatically as you type more pages. This format is normally used in business, so most educated English teachers will appreciate it.
