A ratio is a statement of how two numbers compare. It is a comparison of the size of one number to the size of another number. All of the lines below are different ways of stating the same ratio.

so for example 4:3

okay lets put boys on the left and girls on the right like in a class room there are 7 boys and 8 girls so it would be 7:8

okay now lets do teacher and kids there are 5 kids and one teacher so 1:5

last one there are some puppy's 3 of them are black 2 are wight and black the ratio would be 3:2
