is there always supposed to be a coma before a conjunction??

OpenStudy (anaise):

You have to write a answer to this question? :) @carandola

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait what do you mean?? @Anaise

OpenStudy (anaise):

like is this multiple choice, write a response, or a general question? I know the answer, but I'd like to know what type of question this is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, its just general. im fairly sure that you are always required to put a coma in front of a conjunction in a sentence, or is that an oxford coma?? for example: Do you like peaches, or watermelon? Is the coma required?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Anaise im super new to this site lol i really dont know how it operates yet...

OpenStudy (anaise):

I believe you always do, if it it connects to independent clauses, get it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i do get it, thank you. I was really just wondering for clarification purposes. Oh and another thing, if I would like someone to receive a message, do I have to tag them or will they still get it even if I dont tag them? @Anaise

OpenStudy (anaise):

yes. but

OpenStudy (anaise):

when you first post, tag them once

OpenStudy (anaise):

otherwise, after that

OpenStudy (anaise):

they will start to receive notifications that you are replying to the conversation

OpenStudy (anaise):

but, if they do not reply for a hour or so, it is best to tag them again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay, thank u

OpenStudy (anaise):

you can tag as many people as you want!

OpenStudy (anaise):

any thing else?
