Sam had a full 1 L bottle of olive oil. He poured 0.25 L of the olive oil into a container to make salad dressing. He also poured an unknown amount x onto a plate as a bread dip. There was 0.6 L of olive oil remaining in the bottle. Which equation can be used to solve for x? A. 1 + 0.25 – x = 0.6 B. 1 + 0.25 + x = 0.6 C. 1 – 0.25 – x = 0.6 D. 1 – 0.25 + x = 0.6

need some help?

@kdenice123

OpenStudy (anonymous):

umm... we have a full l of olive oil and poured 0.25l of it into a container

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay so how would that look in an equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.00 - 0.25? I dont know how much a liter would be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

would it be C.? @atreyu6s3x6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's correct :) good job! do you know why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Umm, why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because he then pours an "x" amount out of the bottle, leaving us with only 0.6 L in the bottle
