someone help me out.. i suck at probability lol............ Two 6-sided dice are rolled at the same time. How many outcomes correspond to the event that the sum of the numbers is 5?

Directrix (directrix):

Look at the possible outcomes and count the outcomes that sum to 5. Note: 3 on the green and 2 on the red counts separately from 2 on the green and 3 on the red.

OpenStudy (chealyn98):

How many ways, using the numbers 1 through 6, can you add up to 5?

Directrix (directrix):

@atreyu6s3x6 The sums of 5 are all along a diagonal. Do you see them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont know, i was honestly thinking 4 or 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4?

Directrix (directrix):

Why not look at the chart and name them?

OpenStudy (chealyn98):

Which of these are possible given the constraints (? has to be a number from 1 to 6) 1+? = 5 2+? = 5 3+? = 5 4+? = 5 5+? = 5 6+? = 5

Directrix (directrix):

(1,4); (2,3); (3,2); (4,1)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1,4 2,3 3,2 4,1 so its 4 right?

Directrix (directrix):

Correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeeeaaaa!!! haha thanks! :D both of you

Directrix (directrix):

You are welcome.

OpenStudy (chealyn98):

OpenStudy (anonymous):
