Triangles are essentially half of rectangles or squares...and do you know how to find the area for rectangles/squares?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WXL = rec a^2= square

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right?

Right, and the areas of squares can also be found by W x L (we just right it as a^2 because all the widths and lengths would be the same and so a x a = a^2) Then if a triangle is 1/2 a square or rectangle, how can we re-write the formula to get the area of a triangle?
