PLEASE HELP! FAN AND MEDAL!! :) Which of the following defines logos? An appeal to ethics An appeal to emotion An appeal to logic An appeal to fallacies
@tatumlee @campbell_st can you help me?
Try looking up the definition of each: fallacies, logic, emotion ethics. Look up the definition of logos. You should then find your answer!
Logos is the Greek word for logic.
im stuck between logic and appeal to emotion
is it logic?
I know it's not emotion. If the word means logic in Greek...
Then it's probably logic.
ohh ok so its logic!
thank you! could you help me with another one?
I can try to, what is it?
An argument that describes how a man felt after a tragedy is using groupthink pathos logos ethos
This will help you a lot with these kind of questions.
is it pathos?
it says what a man felt after a tragedy and pathos said it was emotion.. what the person felt...
Pathos means emotion "An argument that describes how a man FELT after a tragedy is using" I am thinking it is pathos, it might be group think though. I would probably put pathos. What do you think?
Look up the definition of group think, see if that makes more sense.
ok i will :)
groupthinks definition is: the practice of thinking or making decisions as a group in a way that discourages creativity or individual responsibility.
I really am thinking pathos. Do you agree?
yup! haha thank you sooo much!! do you think you could help me with another one?
Sure we could figure it out together, what is the question?
An argument that explains how everyone wants safe environments for children is using dilemma pathos logos ethos
dilemma: a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially equally undesirable ones.
What are the other three definitions?
pathos: a situation in which a difficult choice has to be made between two or more alternatives, especially equally undesirable ones. Ethos (Credibility), or ethical appeal, means convincing by the character of the author. We tend to believe people whom we respect. One of the central problems of argumentation is to project an impression to the reader that you are someone worth listening to, in other words making yourself as author into an authority on the subject of the paper, as well as someone who is likable and worthy of respect. Logos (Logical) means persuading by the use of reasoning. This will be the most important technique we will study, and Aristotle's favorite. We'll look at deductive and inductive reasoning, and discuss what makes an effective, persuasive reason to back up your claims. Giving reasons is the heart of argumentation, and cannot be emphasized enough. We'll study the types of support you can use to substantiate your thesis, and look at some of the common logical fallacies, in order to avoid them in your writing.
i think its pathos..what do you think?
I am thinking it could possibly be ethos. The reason why is because everyone wanting a safe environment for children is a belief that everyone shares. It says it in the sentence even "everyone" ethos=the characteristic spirit of a culture, era, or community as manifested in its beliefs and aspirations.
It states something everyone wants, it's not exactly emotional nor a situation.
ohhh i get yeah... i agree with you!
I totally see why you'd think it would be pathos. It could be easily seen as an emotional context but it's more of a statement of belief than emotion.
thank you sooo much! you seriously helped me immensely! :)
