Paella is a dish from Valencia, located on the east coast of Spain. Paella is cooked over an open fire underneath orange, pine branches, and pine cones to infuse the paella. Usual toppings of paella are meat, chicken, vegetables, and seafood.

basically the arabs brought rice and the valencians use it as their staple food, and the romans brought the 'paella pan'.
