For starters, you will need to memorize the following declensions of Verb "to be", indicative present

je suis (I am)
tu es (you (singular and informal) are)
il/elle/on est (he/she/one is)
nous sommes (we are)
vous êtes (you (plural or formal) are)
ils/elles sont (they are)

tu is for informal conversation with one person, such as your good friends in daily conversations.
vous is for formal conversation with one person, or informal conversation with multiple people, or both. With "vous", the verb does not distinguish between the number of people. Examples, your teacher, your priest, your grand parents, uncles, new acquaintances, etc, etc.
They is split into ils for a group of persons with at least one masculine, or elles for a group of feminine only persons.

Finally, rather than rote memorization which will slow you down when you actually apply the verb, it is better to make sentences randomly so you can associate the pronoun with the verb by reflex.
